Biographical Profile

I began experimenting with glass after a short course in fused glass captivated her. Previous City & Guilds qualifications in Design and Craft (Machine Embroidery and Creative Techniques in Textiles) provided a useful structure for exploration and idea development which she now applies to the medium of glass.

MA Fine Art Gloucestershire University

I just completed a  part-time Fine Art degree at the Hardwick Campus in Cheltenham, part of the University of Gloucestershire.

I explored issues around osteoporosis and dementia using a variety of processes including sculpture and animation, and in the process developing a new obsession with moving image, which has many of the same characteristics as glass- transparency, layering, changing from moment to moment, and has the advantage of not being so heavy or difficult to post.

Artist Statement

I find glass seductive. It alters constantly as the light changes. Viewing a piece is more like watching a performance than a static object. I am drawn to ways of using the glass which enable darker, quirkier and more mysterious pieces. I am exploring my artistic ideas and the technical restraints and possibilities of kiln-formed glass.
